Rap legend Snoop Dogg, known for his laid-back personality associated with his use of marijuana, announced via Instagram on Friday that he will be "quitting smoke," shocking a lot of fans on the internet.
"After much consideration and conversation with my family, I've decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time," the rapper wrote.
The post garnered nearly five million likes as of writing, with plenty of users reacting in disbelief at his decision.

The rapper's love for cannabis has made several headlines in the past:
- In 2019, Snoop Dogg revealed having a full-time staff member dedicated to rolling his blunts
- In 2021, he shared on Reddit that he takes 81 smoke breaks daily
However, Snoop's followers knew something was not right and refused to believe he would give up what had built his brand. As it turns out, they were right.
On Tuesday, the Dr. Dre collaborator posted a video clarifying his decision to promote Solo Stove's new smokeless fireplace.
"I know what you're thinking: 'Snoop, smoke is kind of your whole thing.' But I'm done with it. I'm done with the coughing and my clothes smelling all sticky-icky. I'm going smokeless. Solo Stove fixed fire, and they took out the smoke. Clever," Dogg says in the video.
The 30-second ad marks the first in a series of ads between the rapper and the stove brand.
Having fooled the majority of the internet, fans have given the rapper "high" praise for the marketing gimmick. "This man is a marketing genius! Something is cooking and he has everybody's attention," a user commented on one of Snoop's posts.
