McDonald's together with Wieden+Kennedy is launching a sweet new treat to celebrate the lives of loving grandmothers everywhere.
Today, the fast-food chain introduced the "Grandma McFlurry," its newest dessert, through a heartwarming 30-second spot.
It kicks off with several grandsons and granddaughters from all over the world spending quality time with their respective grannies over a cup of the special soft serve.
"Whether you call her Abuela, Nana, Yaya, Gramps, Gigi, Mimi, or Grannie, grandma knows a sweet treat makes any meal special," the narrator shares.
The commercial ends by inviting viewers to come to McDonald's to treat themselves with the Grandma McFlurry.
McDonald's For the Grannies
Following a run with its WcDonald's stint, the restaurant chain decided it was the perfect time to spotlight the grandmas that hold a special place in our hearts.
McDonald's Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Tariq Hassan emphasized their influence on culture, inspiring trends in fashion, decor, and now even food.
"There is a subculture in social media with Gen Z being in their ‘grandma era’ or into 'Grandmacore,'" said Jennifer Healan, McDonald’s VP of U.S. Marketing.
"Gen Z wants to celebrate life like their grandmas—relaxing, taking a pause. We want to tap into that intergenerational bond."

In line with the campaign, McDonald's has also enlisted the help of singer-songwriter Remi Wolf to recreate the classic song "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" as an ode to the nannies.
The track is set to stream on May 21.
The new limited-edition McFlurry offering features a special syrup together with crunchy candy pieces, all blended in its world-famous soft serve — ideal for sharing with grandmas who deserve sweetness in their lives.
"The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we're excited to give our fans that experience while honoring the grandma figure in all our lives," Hassan concluded.
