PlayStation 5 gamers will be pleased to find out that Discord is rolling out a new quality-of-life feature.
The gaming platform just announced that players will soon be able to join voice chats directly from their consoles, without having to access the platform’s PC or mobile apps to start a connection.

The PlayStation Blog also posted an informative announcement, highlighting the new feature’s convenience.
Users simply need to follow these steps:
- Enter the Discord tab in Game Base, under PS5 Control Center
- Pick the Discord server or DM group to join
- Choose a voice channel
Discord calls will also prompt a PS5 console notification that lets users join the call instantly.
The announcement’s reception was overwhelmingly positive, with many fans expressing happiness and relief on social media.
One user even called it "the best thing Discord has thought about in a while."

The feature will roll out gradually, starting with players in Japan and Asia, followed by Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and then the Americas.
Discord and Sony's Partnership
PlayStation first began its partnership with Discord in March 2021, with Sony Interactive Entertainment making a minor investment in the platform to mark the occasion.
This proved to be an extremely successful move, with players joining Discord voice chats on PS5 over 290 million times since the feature was first introduced
Today, Discord is arguably the most beloved and most used messaging service for gamers, with over 150 million monthly active users worldwide.
